Embracing reds, sulfurous yellows, deep blues that absorb every gaze…

Step into the large-scale color spaces of Hermann Valentin Schmitt at MOA WOOD, Stendaler Straße 1 in Moabit, Berlin-Mitte.

Through endless layers of overpainting, the Berlin- and Canada-based artist searches for the right tones to bring out the inner luminosity of his compositions. Chance, curiosity, and experimentation lead him to discover and capture new works of color — full of joy.

„Don’t you ever have a dialogue with colors? Haven’t you ever had a yellow or a blue day? Colors speak to your body. The deepest emotions can only truly be expressed through colors,” says the artist.

The freedom of the creative process, freedom in public presentation, and accessibility for everyone — this attitude also inspired the agreement with ANH Hausbesitz to provide the exhibition space.
