Prenzlauer Berg: Junge Opens Large Bakery Café
Prenzlauer Berg has a new social hub built around “Echter Genuss” (“Real Indulgence”). On April 20, 2026, Junge Die Bäckerei. opened a new café at Hermann-Blankenstein-Straße 38.
The shopping centre on the grounds of the former slaughterhouse is home to a store in which the company, founded in 1897, has clearly gone all out. The large branch has an urban, stylish ambience. For a quick break or a catch-up with friends, there are a good 100 inviting seats in the café area, with another 30 on the sun terrace.
The display counters and service counters offer a wide variety. Anyone who wants a bite or a treat will find numerous snacks, made fresh daily using house recipes.
For those with a sweet tooth, there are slices of cake, tarts, and pastries, served with aromatic coffee for a pause in the day. It is also the right place for a hearty breakfast, which can be put together to suit personal tastes, whether sweet or savoury.
“Echter Genuss” at Junge is rounded off by creative service offerings. When the store is busy and the queues are long, customers can switch to the online service. At shop.jb.de you can put together your order at your leisure, choose your preferred pickup time, and pay directly. Orders are collected at the pickup shelf with no waiting.
Another useful service: the shopping centre’s car park can also be used on Sundays. The barrier lifts automatically. Junge customers park there free of charge and can have their parking ticket validated while placing their order. “Echter Genuss” takes many forms at Junge.
